2 lawmakers, Juan Ponce Enrile daughter join Lakas-CMD for Eleksyon 2022

The Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) in the House of Representatives grew to 50 members after two lawmakers joined the party.

In a statement on Sunday, House Majority Leader and Leyte 1st District Representative Martin Romualdez said La Union 2nd District Representative Sandra Eriguel, Chairperson of the House Inter-parliamentary Relations and Diplomacy, and Nueva Vizcaya Lone District Representative Luisa Lloren Cuaresma were now included in the party.

Eriguel will also take over the post of former Lakas-CMD Vice President for Health Services Willie Ong, who is now with the Aksyon Demokratiko party after he agreed to become the running mate of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno for Eleksyon 2022.

Cuaresma, meanwhile, was named as Lakas' Vice President for Local Government Concerns.

Meanwhile, businesswoman Katrina Ponce Enrile, daughter of former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, also joined the party. Katrina Enrile will run as 1st District Representative of Cagayan under Lakas-CMD.

Aside from them, Quezon City 1st District Councilor Nikki Crisologo, Quezon City 3rd District Councilor John Defensor, Christian Ryan Bustamante who will run for mayor in Oas, Albay, and Franz William Ernest Belgica who will run for a city council seat in San Juan City are now members of Lakas-CMD.

Joining Lakas CMD are leaders from Ilocos Norte, Bicol Region, and Mindanao, who took their oath as Lakas-CMD members on Saturday to run for various local positions in the coming 2022 elections. — DVM, GMA News
