DOH adds 292 fatalities to COVID-19 tally; total climbs to 37,978

The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday reported an additional 292 deaths due to COVID-19, bringing the nationwide tally to 37,978.

“Moreover, 212 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation. Please take note that 175 of these recoveries to deaths are part of the 292 deaths added today,” the DOH said in a statement.

The department has been revising its figures after it failed to release data on deaths for three days because the COVIDKaya system, which stores data on confirmed cases and outcomes, was down from September 23 to 26.

Starting on Wednesday, the DOH will start releasing the daily case bulletin at 7 p.m. due to “recent technical issues in COVIDKaya,” the agency said in a separate advisory.

“The schedule of release shall revert back to 4 p.m. once technical issues are resolved,” it said. —Virgil Lopez/KBK, GMA News
