10,748 new Philippine COVID-19 infections reported; total caseload at 2,604,040

The Philippines registered 10,748 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, raising the country's total caseload to 2,604,040.

The Department of Health said the new cases brought the country's total number of active cases to 106,160, of which 82.7% were mild, 8.3% were asymptomatic, 2.7% were severe, and 1.2% were in critical condition.

Total recoveries also increased to 2,459,052 after 16,523 more patients defeated the viral disease.

The death toll rose to 38,828 with 61 new fatalities.

The DOH said 107 duplicates were removed from the total case count, while 23 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

The DOH said all laboratories were operational on October 2, while three laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.

Further, data from the DOH also showed that 72% of the country’s intensive care unit beds are utilized, while 51% of the mechanical ventilators are also in use.

In the capital region, 73% of the ICU beds are in use, while 55% of the ventilators are utilized. — DVM, GMA News
