Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana on Wednesday night said some hospitals no longer need military doctors due to the decrease in the number of COVID-19 cases.

In President Rodrigo Duterte's second public briefing this week, Lorenzana said there is no need to deploy members of the medical corps to hospitals in different parts of the country.

(St. Luke's cancelled (their request) because of the lower number of cases in their hospital. They initially requested for one doctor and five nurses but they will not accept them anymore.)

Meanwhile, he said the Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City is requesting for two more doctors and nurses.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III also noted declining transactions received by One Hospital Command Center, saying this reflects the decreasing number of COVID-19 infections in the country.

He said the number of cases this week was 25% lower than the previous week. -- BAP, GMA News
