Drug complaint vs Julian Ongpin submitted for resolution

The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Friday submitted for resolution the drug complaint filed by the police against Julian Ongpin, the person of interest in the death of artist Bree Jonson.

Ongpin, who was accompanied by two lawyers, attended the continuation of the preliminary investigation to submit his supplemental counter-affidavit, the Office of the Prosecutor General said in a statement.

Representatives from the Philippine National Police were also present.

“Upon joint motion of the parties and considering that no new matters/ issues were raised by both parties, the case was submitted for resolution,” the statement said.

Ongpin, son of businessman Roberto Ongpin, was charged for allegedly possessing dangerous drugs after the police recovered 12 grams of cocaine in the room he shared with Jonson at a beach resort in La Union.

Both he and Jonson tested positive for cocaine.

Jonson was found dead in the same room on September 18. She was laid to rest in Davao City last week.

Her mother believes that she fought for her life noting the scars on Ongpin's arm.

Ongpin, meanwhile, said he got the wounds after forcibly opening the door of the restroom to free Jonson, who was allegedly trapped.

He also denied having a disagreement with Jonson on the same day she was found lifeless. — VBL, GMA News
