Former showbiz personality Joed Serrano has filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) on Friday for senator in the May 2022 elections.

Serrano said he will push for LGBT community’s rights and prevent discrimination rights against them.

“Nandito po ako para bigyan ng pansin, ng puwang, ng halaga, ng karapatan at isulong ang equality ng mga kauri ko, tama po ang narinig niyo kauri ko ang sandatahang kabaklaan,” Serrano said during his filing of COC.

(I am here to give attention, space, value, rights, and promote the equality of my peers, you have heard correctly, my peers who are gay people.)

Serrano bared that he was supposed to run for president, but gave way to Manila Mayor Isko Moreno who is set to run for president in the May 2022 polls.

The former actor said that he would be the first senator to be vocal about his sexual orientation.

Serrano also thanked President Rodrigo Duterte for his hard work amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

“Salamat tatay Digong, salamat sa lahat ng inyong nagawa. Pasensya po dahil tag-gutom at tag-hirap ang taong bayan nakalimutan nila na tao lang din kayo, nasasaktan at napapagod,” he added.

(Thank you President Duterte for all the service. I'm sorry because the people are hungry and having a hard time that they forgot that you are only human, who can get hurt and get tired.)

Should he get elected, Serrano said he will find ways to lower the electricity and water bills, as well as increase the minimum wage to P1,000.

Serrano made a name in show business as former member of variety show “That’s Entertainment” Monday group and film producer of various films such as “Anak ng Macho Dancer.”—LDF, GMA News
