The Research Institute for Tropical Medicine’s (RITM) investigation report on the supposed false positive results of COVID-19 tests conducted by the Philippine National Red Cross-Subic will be released on Monday, October 11, 2021, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said Saturday.

“Ilalabas ‘yan sa Lunes. Malalaman natin kung ano ba ang resulta noong assessment, evaluation ng RITM dito sa PRC laboratory sa Subic Bay,” Duque said in an interview on Dobol B TV.

(It will be released on Monday. We will know the results of the assessment, evaluation of RITM of the PRC laboratory in Subic Bay.)

Late last month, Duque said the RITM is already looking into an incident in Subic wherein some hospital personnel tested positive for COVID-19. However, a retest three days later yielded negative results.

The PRC has explained that the reason behind the supposed false positive results of COVID-19 tests was the timing and collection of second samples which may have triggered the negative results

It said the personnel may have already been negative for the virus when the second samples were collected by the other laboratory.

President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the DOH to launch a probe into the  alleged false positive test results of PRC, headed by Senator Richard Gordon.

Duterte made the pronouncement in the wake of his attacks against Gordon, who is currently leading the Senate blue ribbon committee hearing on "overpriced" COVID-19 procurement by the government. Duterte had consistently denied that the supplies were highly expensive and corrupted.
