1.3 million doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine arrive in Philippines

More than 1.3 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine developed by biotechnology company Moderna were delivered to the Philippines on Saturday.

The Moderna shots, which were procured by the government and the private sector, arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport before 4 p.m.

More than 85 million vaccine doses have been delivered to the Philippines since February 28, according to vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr.

“With the steady arrivals of these vaccines, we call on our local leaders, including our regional directors and offices, [as well as the] IATF to set aside political differences and focus on our efforts to inoculate as many people as possible,” Galvez told reporters following the arrival of Moderna shots.

Around 22.8 million Filipinos have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, Malacañang said Friday. — VBL, GMA News
