11,010 new Philippine COVID-19 infections; active cases at 106,558 —DOH


The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday reported 11,010 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the nationwide tally to 2,654,450.

The country’s active cases, meanwhile, stood at 106,558, down from 118,203 a day before.

Of the 106,558 active cases, 76.3% are mild, 13.9% are asymptomatic, 5.64% are moderate, 2.9% are severe, and 1.2% are in critical condition.

Total recoveries climbed to 2,508,387 with 22,529 new ones, while 273 new fatalities pushed the death toll to 39,505.

Data also showed that the intensive care unit (ICU) beds for COVID-19 patients remained at high risk with 70% of the total 4,400 ICU beds in use.

At least 56% of the 15,500 ward beds in the country are being utilized, while 53% of the 4,400 ward beds in National Capital Region (NCR) are in use.

The DOH said on Saturday that it was looking to control COVID-19 transmissions and ease restrictions by the upcoming Christmas season.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that COVID-19 cases were expected to decrease by November 15 according to the projections made by the Health Department’s cluster team. — VBL, GMA News
