CAR, Cagayan Valley, Zambo Peninsula at high-risk for COVID-19 —DOH

The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday flagged the Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and the Zamboanga Peninsula for the high number of COVID-19 cases.

“We are flagging CAR, Regions 2 and 9 with high-risk classification based on its positive moderate-risk two-week growth rate and a high-risk average daily attack rate,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in a media forum.

From September 27 to October 10, the DOH said CAR recorded an average daily attack rate (ADAR) of 49.55. ADAR is the number of new daily cases per 100,000 population.

The region has a bed utilization rate of 86.85% and an ICU utilization rate of 85.47%, while 72.62% of the mechanical ventilators in the region are occupied.

Meanwhile, Cagayan Valley has an ADAR OF 35.12 during the same period. It has a bed utilization rate of 79.69% and an intensive care unit bed utilization rate of 76.88%. Around 75.63% of the mechanical ventilators are being used.

The Zamboanga Peninsula, meanwhile, reported an ADAR of 9.83. It has a bed utilization rate of 70.16%, a mechanical ventilator utilization rate of 62.22%, and an intensive care unit bed utilization rate of 88.41%.

According to Vergeire, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, the Bicol Region, the Davao Region, Soccsksargen, and the Bangsamoro Region have either beds or ICU utilization rate at high risk.

Meanwhile, the National Capital Region, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA showed negative growth rate.

NCR recorded an ADAR of 18.31 and is currently at moderate risk classification. It has a bed utilization rate of 50.79%, a mechanical ventilator utilization rate of 50.79%, and an ICU utilization rate of 68.95%.

Vergeire said the seven-day moving average of the region shows a decrease as cases in the recent week went down by 1,137 compared to the past week.

Vergeire has previously confirmed that the number of Philippine daily COVID-19 cases is decreasing.

The Philippines has logged a total of 2,666,562 confirmed cases as of October 10.

Meanwhile, the National Task Force Against COVID-19 said the Philippines has fully vaccinated 23 million Filipinos as of October 8. —KBK, GMA News
