2 cops facing dismissal over tocilizumab sale, extortion –PNP

Two police officers from Rizal Province, and Quezon City will face dismissal form service after getting arrested in separate operations for their involvement in illegal activities, the Philippine National Police said on Wednesday.

In a statement, the PNP said the National Bureau of Investigation arrested Police Staff Sergeant Ariel Yalung in Quezon City over the illegal sale and overprizing of tocilizumab, a drug for the treatment of COVID-19.

The NBI operation stemmed from complaint that two people were selling tocilizumab online for P95,000, which is higher than the suggested price of P25,000.

Meanwhile, the Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group arrested Police Staff Sergeant June Angeles in an entrapment after he was accused of demanding money from the spouse of one of the detainees in San Mateo, Rizal.

PNP chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar said the suspects are now detained and facing criminal and administrative cases.

“Tinitiyak ko na matatanggal sa serbisyo ang dalawa sa aming kasamahan dahil sa kalokohang kinasangkutan nila,” he said.

Eleazar encouraged the public to immediately if they have information on cops involvement in unscrupulous activities. —LBG, GMA News
