DepEd to offer incentives to teachers vaccinated vs. COVID-19


The Department of Education (DepEd) on Tuesday said it is planning to have an incentive program for teachers who have COVID-19 vaccination.

In a press conference, DepEd Director Malcolm Garma said that Secretary Leonor Briones established a committee that will work on these incentives.

“The Secretary actually created a committee headed by Undersecretary Annalyn Sevilla to really look into the either monetary or non-monetary incentive package for our teachers,” he said.

Aside from this, Briones said that many private individuals, local government units, and agencies are now offering incentives to encourage people to get vaccinated.

“Maraming individuals, hindi ang DepEd, ang masipag na mag-encourage sa ating constituents na magpabakuna, para magpa-raffle, rewards,” she said.

The pilot implementation of limited face-to-face classes amid the COVID-19 pandemic will start on November 15.
