37 more PNP personnel contract COVID-19, bringing total to 41,345

The Philippine National Police has recorded 37 more personnel who contracted COVID-19, bringing the total cases in the organization to 41,345 as of Tuesday.

In an update, the PNP said 40,373 have already recovered from the disease while 849 are still active cases.

The death toll due to COVID-19 among PNP personnel remained at 123.

On Monday, the PNP identified the latest fatality as a pregnant policewoman assigned in Central Luzon who died October 17 due to acute respiratory syndrome secondary to COVID-19.

Based on her medical records, the cop was admitted to the hospital in Baler, Aurora due to difficulty breathing on October 8. She tested positive for COVID-19.

On October 10, the PNP said she was transferred to a hospital in Nueva Ecija and underwent emergency caesarian operation, delivering a baby boy who subsequently died on the same day.

On October 17, she was also declared dead by her attending physician.
