25 NCR hospitals, facilities to be involved in Phase 2 of pediatric vaccination — DOH

The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday released the initial list of 25 hospitals and facilities in the National Capital Region to be involved in phase 2 of the pediatric vaccination of minors with comorbidities against COVID-19.

In a message sent to reporters, the DOH identified the following as: 

Eight hospitals were initially tapped for the pilot vaccination.

“So each of the local government units naman po ng National Capital Region have already prepared ng kanilang vaccination site using ‘yung hospital as vaccination site,” Dr. Kezia Rosario of the National Vaccines Operation Center said during the Laging Handa briefing earlier in the day.

(Each of the local government units in the National Capital Region has already prepared their vaccination site using hospitals.)

“We have several din na mga LGUs due to the limitation ng spaces ng hospitals have negotiated with us to use several of their nearby facilities,” she added.

(We have several LGUs that have requested, due to space limitations in hospitals, to use their nearby facilities.)

Rosario said some of the LGUs were allowed to hold their vaccination at other facilities after an inspection.

She also assured the public that supplies are enough for phase 2, which will commence on Friday, October 22.

“May enough supply tayo for them… for the phase 2 as well as ‘yung phase 1, kasama na po doon ang target natin will be around 100,000, actually mga 144, 12 to 17 years old with comorbidities,” she said.

(We have enough supply for them. We’re targeting 100,000 to 144,000 12 to 17 years old with comorbidities.)

The Department of Health (DOH) estimates there are around 1.2 million children with comorbidities aged 12 to 17 years old nationwide.

The agency previously said children seeking vaccination must get a clearance from their doctors as well as give their consent and assent.

Meanwhile, medical conditions such as medical complexity, genetic condition, neurologic conditions, metabolic or endocrine diseases, cardiovascular diseases, obesity, HIV Infection, tuberculosis, chronic respiratory disease, renal disorders, and hepatobiliary disease, and those who are immunocompromised due to disease or treatment are eligible for vaccination. — RSJ, GMA News
