The average number of calls received by the One Hospital Command Center daily decreased to 150 to 300 this week, medical officer Dr. Marylaine Padlan said Friday.

This is lower than the 200 to 300 average reported previously.

“‘Yung mga request po na nare-receive namin sa nakaraang linggo, lumawak ‘yung range nung mga numbers per day na nare-receive namin. So naglaro na siya around 150 to 300 requests per day,” Padlan said during the Laging Handa briefing.

(The requests we received per day widened in range. It's playing around 150 to 300 requests per day.)

Meanwhile, she said most of the calls still came from the National Capital Region, followed by neighboring regions such as Calabarzon and Central Luzon.

Padlan also said non-COVID-related calls increased compared to during the surge.

“For this month of October, merong range to 10% to 30% ng calls, ng requests namin per day… usually emergencies,” she said.

When asked if lowering the alert level in NCR to 2 is possible by December, Padlan said officials must further study the trends of the virus.

“Kailangan continuous ‘yung pag-aaral natin ng data natin, ng trends natin ng COVID cases, dahil ang pagbaba naman ng alert level system natin hindi lang naman base sa mga hospital care utilization rate natin,” she said.

(We need to continuously study our data, the trends of COVID-19 cases because the lowering of the alert level system isn't solely based on the hospital care utilization rate.)

“Kailangan din natin i-consider ‘yung bilis ng pagtaas ng mga cases sa isang lugar, ‘yung variant of concerns din,” she added.

(We also need to consider the speed of transmission in an area as well as the variant of concerns.)

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire earlier said Alert Level 3 in the NCR may soon be lowered if COVID-19 numbers continue to decrease.
