Davao City mayor and daughter of the President Sara Duerte said Sunday that her meeting with presidential aspirant Ferdinand "Bongbong"  Marcos Jr. in Cebu centered on how her local party Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) can help him in Davao region.

In an interview with reporters in Cebu, Mayor Duterte said: “Wala pay istorya mahitungod niana. Ang amo-a lang giistoryahan pagkakaron is how HNP in Davao region can help Bongbong's bid for the presidency.”

“I do not have plans to run for president of the country,” she added.

Duterte declined to elaborate on other matters discussed during the meeting, and deferred to Marcos, who is running for a national position.

Sara's remark came a day after the two parties met in Cebu City to celebrate the birthday

Mayor Sara arrived in the city with photos of her wearing a green hoodie printed with the phrase “Sara All 2022.”

There have been speculations that the younger Duterte would be Bongbong's running mate, but both parties have been silent on the matter.

Bongbong, the son of late dictator Ferdinand Marcos, filed his certificate of candidacy on October 6, as he took oath as a member of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) which is allied with the Duterte administration.

On September 1, the PFP endorsed the young Marcos for the 2022 presidential race.

Bongbong earlier said that the PFP considered President Rodrigo Duterte as its vice presidential candidate, but changed plans when the President announced that he will be retiring from politics. —LBG, GMA News
