Sara Duterte: 11 in household, including children, got COVID-19

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte revealed that 11 of her household members, including children, tested positive for COVID-19 before she got the virus in early October.

In a radio interview on Monday, the presidential daughter said she was many members of her household were unvaccinated.

"Nagkasakit sila ng COVID-19 so we took care of them, everybody took care of them and then nahawaan na rin yung adults na nagbabantay sa kanila," she said in Cebuano.

[They were infected with COVID-19 so we took care of them. Everybody took care of them and they were infected even adults who were monitoring them.]

Sara said she initially tested negative for the virus after the 11 tested positive.

However, she pointed out that she  got tested again after experiencing sore throat, a COVID-19 symptom.

The local chief executive  had been diagnosed with COVID-19 on October 9.

"Sa simula kasama pa ako sa 5 na nag-negative. But after 3-4 days dun na ako nagpa-test dahil sa itchy throat. Nasama na ako sa nagpapa-positive," Sara said as she called for those with symptoms to immediately be tested.

The household members have since recovered, Sara said.

Sara also said none of her household members have close contacts because they never left their house.

As for her close contacts, she said she already sent it to her contact tracing team.
