Philippines logs 4,043 new COVID-19 cases; active tally at 50K


The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday reported 4,043 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the nationwide tally to 2,779,943.

The DOH said active cases stood at 50,630.

Of these cases, 74.1% are mild, 6.5% are asymptomatic, 10.71% are moderate, 6.1% are severe, and 2.6% are in critical condition.

Total recoveries climbed by 3,224 to 2,686,692 while 44 new fatalities pushed the death toll to 42,621.

Data also showed that 50% of 4,100 intensive care unit (ICU) beds for COVID-19 patients nationwide were in use.

At least 34% of the 14,500 ward beds in the country were utilized, while 31% of the 4,100 ward beds in the National Capital Region (NCR) were in use.

All laboratories were operational since October 27, and all were able to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System, the DOH said.

Thirty duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 28 are recoveries. -NB, GMA News
