Passengers bound for Luzon provinces jam QC bus terminal

Throngs of passengers heading to Luzon provinces for the Undas break swarmed a bus terminal in Cubao, Quezon City early Saturday morning.

Super Radyo dzBB's Luisito Santos reported that most of the passengers at the Victory Liner bus station were going to Pampanga, Tarlac, Olongapo, and Baguio City.

Quoting a security guard at the terminal, Santos said all buses bound for Baguio City were fully booked already during the early hours.

Also, terminal personnel have imposed a crowd control system at the ticket booths to ensure social distancing.

Moreover, personnel from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) were visible around the terminal to ensure the observance of health protocols.

Plastered reminders at the station include the following requirements for passengers:

  • face shield and face mask - for all
  • negative antigen test result for passengers going to local government units (LGUs) that require it
  • full-vaccination proof for all passengers going to Baguio City

An earlier dzBB tweet said passengers thronged at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2,  and the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX).

Meanwhile, in a separate dzBB interview, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said that virus transmission inside public utility vehicles is hard to pinpoint. He advised passengers to exercise extra caution.

"Mahirap kasing tukuyin kung ang hawaan ay nangyayari sa public transport. Gusto natin na maging maingat. Ayaw natin na sumipa muli ang mga kaso ng COVID-19," he said, noting a general decline in the number of infections.
