3,117 new COVID-19 infections bring Philippines’ active cases to 43,185

The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday reported 3,117 new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases, the lowest daily infections reported since May 23, as eight laboratories failed to submit data on time.

According to the DOH, this brought the nationwide tally to 2,790,375.

Meanwhile, the country’s active cases slightly decreased to 43,185.

Of these, 72.6% were mild, 4.9% were asymptomatic, 7.2% were severe, and 3% were in critical condition.

The DOH also announced that total recoveries climbed to 2,703,914 with 5,124 new ones, while 104 new fatalities pushed the death toll to 43,276.

Eighteen duplicate cases were also removed from the total case count while 68 cases that were previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths.

Data also showed that 45% of the 4,100 ICU beds nationwide were in use while 39% of the total 1,400 ICU beds in the National Capital Region (NCR) were occupied.

Meanwhile, 31% of the 14,500 ward beds in the Philippines were utilized while 30% of the 4,100 ward beds in the NCR were in use.

Earlier, the OCTA Research group said that all local governments in the NCR were now on a downward trend and were at low risk for COVID-19. — DVM, GMA News
