Pacquiao says wife Jinkee not interested in politics, lavish lifestyle

Senator Manny Pacquiao on Thursday said his wife Jinkee would not follow in the footsteps of former First Lady Imelda Marcos, who was known for her lavish lifestyle during her time in Malacañang.

Pacquiao made the assurance during a virtual forum organized by the Rotary Club of Manila where he was asked whether Jinkee would live a life of luxury like Imelda, wife of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos, if he wins the presidency in May 2022.

“Hindi po. Tinitiyak ko po iyan dahil kilala ko po yung asawa ko hindi po siya ganun,” the senator said.

(No. I can assure you that because I know my wife. She’s not that kind of person.)

Jinkee previously shared on her social media accounts her collection of luxury and fashion items ranging from shoes, bags to pillows.

Pacquiao also said Jinkee, a former Sarangani vice governor, was not interested in politics.

(My wife is a shy person and not interested in politics. She became vice governor of Sarangani and then she didn't run for another term. She was only forced to run.)

(There was only a problem with my colleagues who fought over the position, so I placed my wife for one term and then she did not seek reelection because she is not interested in politics.)

He said his wife loves charity work.

(My wife wants to serve and help women, especially the poor. She wants to provide scholarships, housing to families, and sustainable livelihood.)

Pacquiao, who made a fortune in boxing, declared a net worth of P3.18 billion last year.  — VBL, GMA News
