By JAMIL SANTOS,GMA News

Sixty four (64) percent of adult Filipinos are willing to get vaccinated, results of the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) poll showed.

In its September 27-30, 2021 National Survey, the SWS found that of the 64 percent,  25% were already done with their second dose, 10% were done with their first dose, and 23% said they would surely get vaccinated.

Six percent said they would probably get vaccinated.

Nineteen percent said they were uncertain, and 18% said they were unwilling (4% probably not and 14% surely not) to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

The latest percentage of those willing to be inoculated is nine points above the 55% (10% done with at least one dose, 36% surely, 9% probably) in June 2021, and is twice as high as the 32% (23% surely, 9% probably) in May 2021, when SWS first conducted its survey about the issue.

The SWS added that those uncertain about getting vaccinated fell from 24% in June 2021 and 35% in May 2021, while those unwilling fell from 21% (3% probably not, 18% surely not) in June 2021 and 33% (7% probably not, 26% surely not) in May 2021.

The SWS asked: “If you have a chance to be given a free vaccine that can prevent Covid-19 which has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration or FDA, would you… Surely get vaccinated; Probably get vaccinated; Be unsure about getting vaccinated; Probably not get vaccinated; Surely not get vaccinated?"

Willingness for vaccination rises in all areas

The survey further revealed that the percentage of those willing to get vaccinated rose in Metro Manila to 87% (61% done with a second dose, 10% done with a first dose, 11% surely, 5% probably), up by 11 points from 76% in June 2021 (5% done with a second dose, 21% done with a first dose, 41% surely, 8% probably, correctly rounded).

It also rose in Balance Luzon to 65% (22% done with a second dose, 13% done with a first dose, 24% surely, 5% probably, correctly rounded), up by 11 points from 54% (3% done with a second dose, 5% done with a first dose, 37% surely, 9% probably).

Willingness to get vaccinated rises across education; higher among the more educated

The poll body further found that willingness to get vaccinated was highest among college graduates (83%), followed by junior high school graduates (68%), elementary graduates (59%), and non-elementary graduates (37%).

The percentage of those willing to get vaccinated rose among college graduates to 83% (35% done with a second dose, 14% done with a first dose, 30% surely, 4% probably). It is up by 12 points from 71% in June 2021 (6% done with a second dose, 12% done with a first dose, 46% surely, 7% probably).

It also rose among junior high school graduates to 68% (26% done with a second dose, 11% done with a first dose, 25% surely, 6% probably), up by nine points from 59% (2% done with a second dose, 8% done with a first dose, 39% surely, 10% probably).

A rise in willingness was also seen among elementary graduates to 59% (22% done with a second dose, 9% done with a first dose, 21% surely, 6% probably, correctly rounded), up by 10 points from 49% (2% done with a second dose, 5% done with a first dose, 31% surely, 10% probably, correctly rounded).

However, SWS found that overall unwillingness to get vaccinated is highest among non-elementary graduates, remaining at one-third of those respondents.

The SWS conducted its September 27-30, 2021 National Survey using face-to-face interviews of 1,500 adults (18 years old and above) nationwide: 300 each in Metro Manila, the Visayas, and Mindanao, and 600 in Balance Luzon (or Luzon outside of Metro Manila).

The sampling error margins are ±2.5% for national percentages, ±6% for Metro Manila, the Visayas, and Mindanao, and ±4% for Balance Luzon, the poll body said. -NB, GMA News
