Eleazar to cops: Undertake patrols for Christmas caroling

By JAMIL SANTOS,GMA News

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar on Thursday urged cops to start their nighttime patrols following the government's approval of street caroling this Christmas season.

In a statement, Eleazar said nighttime patrols need to be conducted to ensure the security and safety of carolers.

(I have instructed our police force to start conducting night patrols for the security of carolers, and to ensure that they observe health protocols).

Eleazar also reminded the public to be mindful of the minimum health protocols, and avoid being complacent despite the decreasing COVID-19 cases.

The Department of Health (DOH) said Wednesday that street caroling will be allowed this Christmas provided that carolers wear face masks and face shields.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire reminded the public that people expel more respiratory droplets when singing, increasing the risk of COVID-19 transmission. —LBG, GMA News
