Lakas-CMD looking to adopt a presidential aspirant to run with Sara — Revilla

Lakas-CMD party will adopt a presidential aspirant who will run in tandem with its vice presidential bet, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, in the May 2022 elections, party chairperson Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. said Saturday.

“I am confirming that the party is in the process of formalizing the adoption of a standard-bearer who Inday Sara will be running with as her president,” Revilla said.

“Abangan po natin ang dream tandem na aakay sa bansa tungo sa hinahangad nating pagbangon mula sa pandemya at tuloy-tuloy na progreso,” he added.

(Let's look forward to the dream tandem that will lead the country towards recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and continuous progress.)

Revilla’s statement comes after the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) of presidential aspirant Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. adopted Duterte as its vice presidential bet.

The PFP issued the resolution minutes after Duterte, through an authorized representative, filed her certificate of candidacy for vice president under Lakas-CMD.

Duterte has yet to issue a statement on whether she accepts PFP’s endorsement. Marcos Jr. and Duterte are political allies.

“Many continue to signify their intention to join Lakas in support of the mayor’s vice presidential run and we are continuously expanding our membership. The party is mobilizing its full machinery to back Inday Sara’s candidacy towards ensuring her victory,” Revilla said.  — VBL, GMA News
