IATF recommends face shield use for particular alert level

By CONSUELO MARQUEZ,GMA News

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) ahs recommended to President Rodrigo Duterte to require face shield for a particular alert level, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said Sunday.

Año, however, refused to give further details because the recommendation is still pending approval from President Rodrigo Duterte.

"Ang masasabi ko lang ang rekomendasyon ang IATF ay tanggalin ang face shield except du'n sa isang partikular alert level at saka may provision doon na local chief executive na puwedeng mag-impose sa certain alert level," he said  over Dobol B TV.

(IATF's recommendation is to remove the face shield policy except for a particular alert level and there is a provision there that local chief executives impose it at a certain alert level.)

President Rodrigo Duterte is expected to make a pronouncement on face shield policy on Monday, November 15, Año added.

Mayors in Metro Manila and a number of local executives, even Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, already dropped  the mandatory face shield policy as the number of COVID-19 cases went down.

Malacañang, meanwhile, warned mayors against defying IATF policy on requirement of face shields as the task force's pronouncement is the President's decision, too. —LBG, GMA News
