Philippines registers 1,547 new COVID-19 cases; active tally at 27K

The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday recorded 1,547 fresh COVID-19 infections, bringing the country's total number of cases to 2,818,511.

According to DOH's tally, this number of new COVID-19 cases is the lowest since February 24, which logged 1,557 new virus cases.

The new cases also increased the active cases to 27,025, the lowest since January 15, 2021 which reported 27,033 active case count.

Of the 27,025, 61.0% were mild, 5.9% were asymptomatic, 17.59% were moderate, 10.8% were severe, and 4.6% were in critical condition.

The nation's death toll went up to 45,709, including 128 more patients who lost to the disease.

Also, DOH bared that 2,601 more people survived the severe respiratory ailment, raising the total recoveries to 2,745,777.

As for the positivity rate, it remained below 5% with 4.1%, which is the lowest since January 24, 2021, which posted a 4.3% positivity rate.

A positivity rate of less than 5% was recommended by the World Health Organization in May 2020. If the positivity rate was at 5% or higher, it means there is high virus transmission.

In the country's healthcare system, the utilization rate of intensive care units nationwide was at 35% while isolation beds were at 28% occupancy rate.

In Metro Manila, 30% of the ICU beds for COVID-19 patients are occupied while 26% of the isolation beds are in use.

A total of 16 duplicates, including 12 recoveries, were deleted from the country's caseload, DOH said.

The health department also said that 109 recoveries were reclassified as deaths.

Three laboratories did not submit their data to COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) on November 13, 2021.

In the last 14 days, these non-reporting labs contributed 0.7% of samples tested and 0.3% of positive individuals.—LDF, GMA News
