PNP releases over P8 billion for yearend bonus, cash gifts for 220,000 personnel

The Philippine National Police on Thursday released a more than P8 billion for mandated 2021 yearend bonus and cash gift of 222,418 PNP personnel.

In a statement, Philippine National Police chief Police General Dionardo Carlos said the amount came from the regular PNP appropriations programmed in the agency’s 2021 budget.

PNP Finance Service Director Police Brigadier General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the yearend bonus and cash gift had been credited to the individual payroll accounts of their personnel with the Land Bank of the Philippines.

The cops' year-end bonus is equivalent to one month basic pay while the cash gift is pro-rated at P5,000, subject to the guidelines in reference to Fiscal Directive Number 2016-16 “Payment of Year-End Bonus and Cash Gift for FY 2016 and Years Thereafter.”

The bonuses exceeding P90,000.00 taxable. This will affect 15,587 PNP personnel.

They are subject to the yearend tax adjustments effective November and December 2021 pursuant to the TRAIN Law or Republic Act 10963 and BIR Revenue Regulations 9-2018 and 11-2018, and shall resume the regular monthly tax deduction on January 2022.

PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Roderick Augustus Alba said the release of the 2021 yearend bonus and cash gift is deferred for personnel with pending administrative cases. -NB, GMA News
