1,485 new COVID-19 cases bring Philippines' active tally to 23,200

The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday recorded 1,485 new COVID-19 cases bringing the nationwide tally to 2,823,210.

Active infections stood at 23,200.  Of these cases, 59.6% are mild, 3.8% are asymptomatic, 19.56% are moderate, 12% are severe, and 5.1% are in critical condition.

 


The Philippines' COVID-19 positivity rate was at 3.5%, slightly higher than the 3.4% positivity rate recorded on Thursday.

This is within the World Health Organization's requirement target of less than 5% positivity rate. The total conducted COVID-19 tests were at 43,039.

Total recoveries climbed by 1,393 to 2,753,312 while 277 new fatalities pushed the death toll to 46,698.

Data also showed that 33% of 3,800 intensive care unit (ICU) beds for COVID-19 patients nationwide are in use.

At least 19% of the 13,300 ward beds in the country were utilized, while 23% of the 3,900 ward beds in the National Capital Region (NCR) were in use.

Based on the latest report, the DOH said all laboratories were operational since November 17, while there was one laboratory that failed to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.

The health department reported 28 duplicates were removed from the total case count, including 24 recoveries and one death.

Meanwhile, at least 230 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.—LDF, GMA News
