With less than a month to go before the registration of overseas absentee voters (OAV) ends on October 31, the Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) said it will remain open on weekends to facilitate OAV registration. According to a report of the news site Khaleej Times on Thursday, vice consul Geronimo Suliguin said the Consulate General will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the following dates: October 5, 12, 13, 19, and 20.
Suliguin said, “A team shall be made available to attend to specially organized registration activities from far-flung areas.”
He said the requirements for registrants for the 2013 elections include personal appearance and a photocopy of passport’s data page.
In September, the Consulate General registered 3,307 new voters. This brought the total number of registered new absentee voters to 18,333, the biggest worldwide. - VVP, GMA News
