UP Baguio grad launches 'No Sense of Limits' novel in Nigeria

Filipina author Araceli Bañez Aipoh launched her novel “No Sense of Limits” at the Philippine Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria earlier this month. In a news release on Monday, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Aipoh's book, launched on December 6, narrates the lives of four women who resided in Nigeria's former capital Lagos. “I believe that this novel by Mrs. Araceli Aipoh is the first ever novel by a Filipino in an African setting and about Nigeria and about Lagos,” said Philippine Ambassador Alex V. Lamadrid. Lamadrid said, “we look forward to more interesting works from Mrs. Aipoh and other Filipino writers in Nigeria.” The novel “No Sense of Limits,” is a 341-page long book first published in 2005. In an article on the news site Punch, Aipoh said the latest edition corrects some grammatical and structural flaws in the first edition. DFA Undersecretary for Policy Erlinda Basilio, present during the launching, said, "I applaud the work of Mrs. Araceli Aipoh and we hope that this novel will be of great interest to readers all over Nigeria and also in other parts of the world, particularly in the Philippines.” “We believe that writers from the Philippine community should be encouraged to write about their interesting experiences in this beautiful country,” Basilio added. The book launching included a photo opportunity with the author and a book signing. Part of the proceeds for the sale of the book will go to charity.
