Pinay fashion designer to showcase 60’s-inspired designs in Brooklyn

Filipina fashion designer Joyce Peñas Pilarsky will showcase her Spring Summer 2015 collection at the ongoing Fashion Week Brooklyn at Industry City in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.

Her collection follows the Fashion Week theme of "Designs of the Times," with flowers and a nod to Filipino fashion during the 1960's.

Described as a "model, beauty queen, and philanthropist" by Fashion Week Brooklyn, Pilarsky's collections uses indigenous materials from different regions in the Philippines.

Pilarsky also designs jewelry, maintaining a site for her self-described "body-hugging fashion accessories."

She won the Classic Mrs. Asia International Global 2014 in Malaysia, the pageant's first Filipina winner.

Her work was also featured during the Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2014, where she showed off a flesh-colored dress dotted with lilies and butterflies. — Rie Takumi/BM, GMA News
