Tornado destroys houses, affects 100 families in GenSan


At least 100 families lost their homes after a tornado hit five puroks in General Santos City on Easter Sunday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Tuesday.

In its report, the NDRRMC said the tornado hit Barangay Upper Labay in General Santos City at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

"There were 100 families affected, 27 houses totally damaged and 77 houses partially damaged by strong winds," it said.

Local officials in the city prepared and distributed family food packs to the affected families. —Joel Locsin/KG, GMA News
