NDRRMC: Death toll from ITCZ-induced rain rises to 4


The death toll from rain induced by the inter-tropical convergence zone rose to four Wednesday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.
 
In its update, the NDRRMC also said at least two people were still reported missing following days of rain that affected parts of the Visayas and Mindanao.
 
According to the NDRRMC, the fatalities were identified as:
 
  • Anthony Jardeleza, 16, Mandurriao, Iloilo City
  • John Paul Obaridas, 15, Mandurriao, Iloilo City
  • Erick Bayona, 1 month old, Tibiao, Antique, hit by coconut while being carried by mother
  • Angelo Clavines, 10, Molo, Iloilo City, electrocuted
 
The missing, damage

Still missing are Eser Oro, who was washed away by Niludhan River; and Maungko Mastura, 35, who was last seen in Lumabka River in Maguindanao.
 
At least 44 houses were destroyed while 88 more were damaged in Western Visayas and Region 9.
 
Damage was estimated at P4.022 million, including P3 million in damage to Andonna Bridge and P1.022 million in damage to agriculture in Antique and Iloilo. — Joel Locsin/VC, GMA News
