14-year-old drowns in Camp John Hay lake

It will be a sad Christmas for the family of a 14-year-old who drowned in a lake at the golf area of Camp John Hay in Baguio City.

Rescue teams had a hard time retrieving the body of Kim Marinas from Lake 7 of the golf area, GMA North Central Luzon reported.

Initial investigation showed the victim and two friends went to the area supposedly to catch frogs.

But one of Marinas' friends slipped and held on to the victim. Both fell into the water but only Marinas' friend was rescued.

On the other hand, Baguio City police chief Senior Superintendent Rolando Miranda said the water was cold at 12 degrees Celsius.

Miranda also said they will look into why the victim had no clothes on when recovered.

"Sa part ng kapulisan, yan ang aalamin natin, bakit wala siyang damit," he said. —Joel Locsin/NB, GMA News
