Armed men abduct mayor of Zamboanga Sibugay town

Unidentified armed men abducted the mayor of a town in Zamboanga Sibugay province Monday evening and took her away in a pump boat.

 

Naga Mayor Gemma Adana was grabbed from her house in Barangay Taytay Manubo at around 9:15 p.m., GMA News correspondent Peewee Bacuño reported.

 

According to initial reports from Regional Intelligence Division 9 of the Philippine National Police, the abductors used a bote-bote or pump boat last seen heading for Kalintana village in the same town.

Police are looking into whether the armed men had help from someone on the mayor's household staff. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
