5 hurt after bee attack in Negros Occidental


Five BS Biology students from two schools were injured after they were attacked by bees during their research at the Guintubdan Wilderness Park in Lacarlota City in Negros Occidental on Tuesday.

According to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, the bee attack occurred around 2 p.m. after the students encountered a swarm of honey bees that suddenly became hostile.

The students were identified as Odessa Sales (19) and Lynvie Sagayno (19), both from University of St. La Salle, Bacolod City and Allya Bicoy (19), Roderick Makiputin (21) and Ethel Dominique (19) from the Mindanao State University in Illigan City.

The victims were rushed to the Don Salvador Memorial District Hospital for immediate medical treatment. — Andrei Medina/BM, GMA News
