Warehouse explosion triggers fire, brownout in Pililla, Rizal

An explosion at a warehouse compound triggered a fire and a brownout in a neighborhood in Pililla, Rizal on Wednesday evening.

 

No one was initially reported injured in the explosion at a warehouse, though a nearby gas station was damaged, GMA News' Jamie Santos reported on "Saksi."


 

 

The incident occurred at about 7 p.m., with the fire being put out shortly before 10 p.m.

 

Attendants at the gas station said they initially thought the explosion was the sound of fireworks, as there was a fiesta in the area at the time.

 

The Pililla municipal disaster risk reduction and management council said its initial findings showed the explosion came from a water tank.

 

The Bureau of Fire Protection said the tank may have contained chemicals, noting the warehouse once served as a motor factory.  —  Joel Locsin/ELR, GMA News
