19-year-old stabs grandma to death; eats her heart

A 19-year-old teenager stabbed his own grandmother to death and then ate her heart inside her home in Barangay Tapi in Kabankalan City in Negros Occidental before dawn on Tuesday.

Supt. Kabankalan City police chief German Garbosa said Ruben Jalaman has admitted to killing his grandmother and eating her heart at around 2 a.m. inside her home.

Garbosa said concerned citizens reported the incident at around 5 a.m., after seeing the victim's lifeless body and her chest ripped open inside her home.

"Bukas raw ang pintuan kaya tinignan ng mga kapit-bahay. Gumamit ng kutsilyo, tapos sabi niya kinain raw niya ang puso. Tinanong ko nga kung niluto pa, hindi raw," Garbosa told GMA News Online.

He said police officials then arrested Ruben, who later admitted committing the crime.

"Noong tinanong ko siya kung bakit niya ginawa, sabi niya, trip lang daw niya," Garbosa said.

Garbosa added that the younger Jalaman will undergo drug and psychiatric tests. He is currently under their custody, he added. —NB/JST/TJD, GMA News
