Cebu Board member Teddy Ouano succumbs to cancer

Cebu Provincial Board (PB) Member and former Mandaue City Mayor Thadeo "Teddy" Ouano has died on Friday. He was 71 years old.

"We are saddened by the passing of Board Member Thadeo "Teddy" Ouano," said Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III in a statement sent to GMA News Online.

"As PB member, he was an active warrior for the environment. In fact, he was responsible for the passage of several ordinances for the protection of the environment, including those that would strengthen our anti illegal fishing laws," Davide added.

He is survived by his wife Linda, children Emmarie "Lollipop," Alfie and Thadeo Jovito "Jonkie."

The legislator belongs to a political clan based in Mandaue City in Cebu province. His daughter Lollipop is running for mayor in May.

Ouano was on his second term as PB member. It is not yet clear if the political party he belongs to, One Cebu, will field a replacement. — BAP, GMA News
