2 soldiers hurt in Sorsogon ambush

Two soldiers were hurt in an ambush by about 10 members of the New People's Army (NPA) in Barangay Pangi, Matnog town in Sorsogon on Monday, the military reported.

The victims were 2Lt. Ariel Cayton and Sgt. Joventico Cerafica, who were part of the Quick Reaction Force conducting a routine route security for the Board of Election Inspectors (BEI) who were transporting election paraphernalia.

The soldiers were brought to the Sorsogon Doctors Hospital for treatment.

Col. Fernando Trinidad, 903rd Infantry Brigade Commander, has ordered pursuit operations while troops were reminded to be more vigilant. — BAP, GMA News
