'GUSTO MONG SIPAIN KITA?'

Angry Bato scolds Angeles cops linked to robbery-extortion of Koreans

ANGELES CITY, Pampanga — Policemen here tagged in the robbery-extortion of Korean tourists, as well as their superiors, received a mouthful from Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa on Wednesday noon.

"Ang lakas [ng loob] niyo maghablot ng Koreano, pu**** i**! Gusto mong sipain kita? Ang tapang ninyo. Next na magpunta ako dito, kayong mga opisyal pag meron pang ganitong kaso kayo ang parusahan ko. Yung tao niyo pinabayaan niyo," a visibly angry Dela Rosa said.

Dela Rosa's words drove some of the accused police officers, who were ordered to form a line and do stationary push-ups, to tears. They were accused of "arresting" three Korean tourists in December only to extort cash from them in exchange for their liberty.

An incident report said the policemen arrested the Koreans for their alleged involvement in illegal online gambling.

Following his outburst, Dela Rosa — recently ordered by President Rodrigo Duterte to rid the police force of erring policemen — talked with the officials to express his dismay with the incident.

"Yung mga tao dito pag tinanong mo sasabihin nilang, 'Sir, matagal nilang ginagawa 'yan.' Ganyan ang pagkakilala ng mga sibilyan sa atin," he said.

Duterte, who described the Philippine National Police as "corrupt to the core," gave the order on Dela Rosa following the kidnapping and murder of Korean businessman Jee Ick Joo by a group of policemen.

Dela Rosa said he believes the officials were aware of what their subordinates were doing only that they were not acting on it.

"Ilan ang involved sa ganung krimen pero wala kayong ginawa? Alam niyo yan pero wala kayong ginagawa," Dela Rosa said.

"You don't deserve to wear this uniform. Nakikita niyo, alam niyong may ginagawang kalokohan ang kasamahan niyo, pinabayaan lang ninyo hanggang sa kinain na kayong lahat, nasisira na tayong lahat. Napapahiya na tayo sa Koreano," he added.

"Dapat hindi nangyari yan kung hindi kayo nagpabaya sa tao nyo," he also said as he warned the officials that if another incident involving erring police officers will happen in Angeles, then they would be held liable.

"Pag may nangyari pang isang kaso dito, lahat kayo mananagot sa akin," Dela Rosa said. "Babawiin natin yung nasira nating imahe." —KBK, GMA News
