Eight persons, including two minors, were injured after a tornado on Thursday hit two localities in Negros Occidental destroying at least 19 houses.

Authorities said the tornado first ripped through eight houses and a poultry farm in three barangays of Valladolid town.

The tornado that lasted for a few seconds also wrecked some trees in the area.

It then continued to sweep down 11 houses made of light materials in Barangay Sagasa, Bago City.

A total of 31 individuals were affected. They are being accommodated temporarily by their neighbors and relatives.

For Bago City alone, authorities said the tornado left an initial damage of at least P380,000.
