Husband whose family was massacred doesn't believe only one suspect did crime

The security guard whose family was massacred Tuesday in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan is not convinced the self-confessed suspect acted alone in committing the crime.

In an interview with Super Radyo dzBB, Dexter Carlos said Thursday the suspect lied to protect himself, News To Go reported.

The suspect, Carmelino Navarro Ibañes, admitted to the crime when he was arrested by police on Wednesday.

He also said he acted alone.

C/Supt. Aaron Aquino, director of PNP Region 3, at a press conference Thursday said the suspect was high on drugs and was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crime.

Carlos said Ibañes just said he was alone when he did the crime to protect his cohorts.

He said he has long advised his wife Estrella Dizon to be careful around the suspect and his friends who often get water from their house.

"Nagsisinungaling... May pinoprotektahan na tao na ayaw niya kasama sa krimen... Hindi ako maniwala," Carlos said.

He added that the suspect destroyed the padlock at the back of their house to get inside.

During the press conference, Aquino said Ibañes was on his way home early Tuesday when he claimed to have heard a voice telling him to enter the house of Carlos in North Ridge Royal Subdivision in San Jose del Monte.

Inside the house, he stabbed to death five people: Auring Dizon, 58; her daughter Estrella Dizon, 28; and Estrella's children Donnie, 11; Ella, 7 and Dexter Jr., 1.

Carlos arrived home on Tuesday morning after his night duty and found his family dead.

Police are eyeing rape of Auring and Estrella as the motive for the crime. —KG/KVD, GMA News
