10 hurt as passenger bus falls off ravine in Quezon


Ten people were hurt after a passenger bus, reportedly driven by its conductor instead of the actual driver, fell into a ravine in Tagkawayan, Quezon, early Tuesday.

Police said an AB Liner passenger bus fell into a ravine along Quirino Highway in Barangay Bagong Silang at past midnight.

A report on Unang Balita said that the injured passengers were immediately rescued and brought to the hospital by soldiers from the Army's 85th Infantry Battalion, stationed near the site of the accident.

Three of the four passengers critically hurt and rushed to St. Peter Hospital in Calauag town are now in stable conditions.

The other passengers were rushed to the Tagkawayan District Hospital and a medical facility in Lopez town.

Passengers said the bus suddenly went out of control while they were traversing the highway.

The passengers claimed that the bus conductor was the one driving the bus when the accident happened, which police have yet to confirm.
