10 killed as BIFF members, troops clash in Maguindanao

At least 10 people were killed in an encounter between government troops and members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) in Datu Unsay, Maguindanao on Saturday night.

A Super Radyo dzBB report said that according to Captain Arvin Encinas of the 6th Infantry Division one of those killed was a member of the Philippine Army.
Meanwhile, troops have recovered five bodies of suspected BIFF members.

One soldier was injured in the encounter, the report added.

The report said the firefight happened in Barangay Maitumaig at around 7 p.m. The military also launched an airstrike against the bandits.

It said that the military encountered at least 50 BIFF members.
