Tacloban Airport temporarily closed for runway repairs —CAAP

The Tacloban City Airport or the Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport in Leyte has been temporarily closed by aviation authorities on Wednesday while the airport's runway is being repaired, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).

In an advisory, the CAAP said it was temporarily closing the Tacloban Airport to repair potholes on the runway, due to the degradation of runway surface caused by continuous rain in the past weeks.

The aviation authority added that it has issued a notice to airmen on the airport's closure starting 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday.

“The continuing deterioration of the runway surface had to be addressed immediately for the safety of all passengers and aircraft operating in Tacloban,” CAAP said.

“The public is advised to monitor updates from airlines operating at the Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport for flight cancellations and flight arrangements,” it added. — MDM, GMA News
