Father, 3 children drown in Bicol River

Four people, including three children, drowned while swimming in Bicol River in Libmanan, Camarines Sur on Saturday morning.

The fatalities were identified as Arnel Sibuc, 44; his children Dynie, 11 and Aljon, 9 and their neighbor Danica Flores, 7.

Filipina Sibuc said her husband dived into the river when they noticed that their children and Flores were already in a deep part of the water and were already drowning.

Filipina said while Arnel was rescuing the children, she rushed to the nearby house of a barangay councilman to seek help.

However, when she returned the four victims were already being revived by the other residents.

Police said that according to witnesses, the children panicked while being rescued by Arnel and the four victims eventually drowned. —report from Michael Biando/ALG, GMA News
