Former Sultan sa Barongis, Maguindanao vice mayor shot dead

The former vice mayor of Sultan sa Barongis town in Maguindanao province was shot dead on Friday evening in Tacurong City.

Sultan Kudarat Provincial Police Director James Gumatico identified the victim as Datu Roger Mamalo, 63, who was on his way home to New Isabela, Tacurong City.

Mamalo was alone in his vehicle when he was shot at by armed men about 8:20 p.m. on Friday.

The firearm used was identified as a .45 caliber pistol.

According to the initial information gathered by the police, the motorcycle driver and the gunman immediately fled the area after the shooting incident.

The police is checking whether the motive of the crime is politically motivated. — BAP, GMA News
