Ardot Parojinog arrives in PHL from Taiwan after arrest in May

The plane carrying Ozamis City Councilor Ricardo "Ardot" Parojinog, brother of the slain suspected drug lord Ozamis City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr., has arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, dzBB has reported.

PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said Ricardo would be temporarily detained at the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame pending the return of the warrants to the Ozamis City court and the issuance of a Commitment Order.

He is facing charges for murder, illegal possession of firearms and illegal possession of explosives.

"It is incumbent upon the PNP to ensure the safety and security of Ricardo Parojinog in the best interest of justice so he can stand trial for his transgressions," Albayalde said at a news conference following Ricardo's arrival.

"His arrest describes on unequivocal terms the relentless campaign against illegal drugs and crimes that we are waging, convey the message of certainty of punishment to all those who challenge the majesty of the law," he added.

Ricardo has been repatriated from Taiwan after his deportation by immigration authorities for illegal entry using spurious documents.

Albayalde related that all the criminal judicial proceedings in Taiwan against Ricardo have already been legally and properly concluded in accordance with the exercise of Taiwan's legal jurisdiction against him.

He added that Ricardo's repatriation was made possible through the efforts of the Directorate for Intelligence (DI), Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and Police Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) in coordination with the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO).

A PNP team received Parojinog from his Taiwanese custodians at the Pingtung County Detention Center where he served brief jail time for violation of immigration laws prior to his deportation.

Parojinog will be placed under arrest as the CIDG serves four warrants of arrest issued by Edmundo Pintac, Executive Judge of RTC branch 15 of Ozamis City, for murder, violation of RA 10591 or illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, and violation of RA 9516 or illegal possession of explosives.

The councilor went into hiding after Ozamis City policemen raided their family's homes in July last year.

Policemen had seized shabu and drug paraphernalia, a shotgun, three rocket-propelled grenade launchers, two hand grenades, and M79 ammunition from Ricardo’s house. — NB/BAP,  GMA News
