Person of interest in murder of medical representative has dashcam video as evidence

One of three persons of interest in the murder of a 25-year-old medical representative has in his possession a dashcam video and recording of a conversation with the victim, according to the report of Rida Reyes on Saksi.

The person of interest was seen on CCTV going to the house of the victim, Maria Kathrina Nakpil.

Nakpil was found dead in her house in Cainta, Rizal last Friday with about 30 stab wounds in different parts of her body.

The victim's mother, Marichelle Nakpil, was inconsolable in her grief.

Dapat sa 'yo laslasin din 'yung braso mo," she said.

Among the three persons of interest identified by the police is the boyfriend of the victim who was the last person to talk to her before the crime occurred.

CCTV footage of the village showed his car on its way to the house of the victim at 1:48 a.m. then after about 10 minutes he was seen leaving on foot.

"'Yun po ang pinag-aaralan namin ngayon. Kumbaga, nagawa lahat 'yun, 'yung activity na 'yun within nine minutes," said Cainta Police chief Police Superintendent Pablito Naganag.

However, the victim's boyfriend said in a sworn statement that he went to Kathrina's house to rescue her.

The victim was already at the brink of death when he arrived.

An evidence that he presented was a dashcam video inside his vehicle wherein a conversation between him and the victim can be heard.

The relatives of the victim, however, were not convinced with the contents of the dashcam video.

The time stamp on the video was 9 a.m. and the date, Aug. 21, 2018. They said the information could be tampered.

"Sobrang dali nu'n i-edit eh, sobrang pwede 'yung palitan. 'Yun pa lang mali 'yung oras nakakapagtaka na," said Ellie Nakpil, the victim's sister.

Authorities are also on the lookout for another person who was seen on CCTV footage of the village around 1:38 a.m.

The person hailed a tricycle outside the village.

— BAP/KG, GMA News
